Halloween 2000

First house, tried to decorate for kids.

Coffin Digger Grave Monster

The coffin is propped up at the back of a minivan. Amazing how a coffin makes a mini van look like a hearse. The coffin, believe it or not, is just a couple cardboard boxes connected together, covered with black cloth. The bars are PVC tubing painted silver. Add some awsome fabric and stuffing material inside and voila!
'Digger' is a PVC frame dummy with a speaker in the chest with corny messages to the TOTs and the face lights up as he speaks, using a 1 channel color organ.
The next guy is reaching out to get your candy as you leave the front door. (Wire frame with paper mache head/vinyl mask)
The tall one here started out as a shelf to support a black light shining on the flourescent webs on the ceiling. He got his looks from trying to hide the post. Not bad, he scared people when they turned around from the door.

They're all static props. But it was the Lightning that drew people from other neighborhoods. I had modified several flash units from disposable cameras to work with a thunder sound track. The units were mounted under the house eves, and lit up houses a couple blocks around! (Seriously - do not attempt to modify those flash units, severe shock hazards present. So what if they originally only use a 1.5v AA battery, they produce up to 4000V!! in just the right place. - No, I am not going to explain how I did it, other than I added some simple circuits to bypass the batteries and syncronize triggering.)
